Leadership, Vision & Energy – by Ralph Lauren

A leader has the vision and conviction that a dream can be achieved. He inspires the power and energy to get it done.”
Ralph Lauren
  1. It all starts with a vision. What’s yours?
  2. Is your vision only a dream or do you have the conviction it can be achieved? (if you’re not convinced, you’re followers likely aren’t either)
  3. It doesn’t end with the vision…Are you inspiring power and energy towards the vision?
  4. How might inspiring power and energy look like for you? Defining a roadmap to get to the vision (strategy)? Communicating or updating your vision? Creating an example that makes it come alive for those that need to believe in it? Involving them in creating the vision?

Anyone who knows me, or reads the “About” section, is aware that one of my hobbies and passions is fitness & health. I love it! It’s not only because of the obvious “body benefits,” but it’s is an important ingredient to the whole idea of diversity and balance in life – “sound mind, sound body” etc.

Because fitness is such a personal passion, this post will “officially” launch the “BLUE LIFE” section of my blog – a category focused on fitness, faith, family, fashion, current events – all the “other stuff” I really care about that makes up the ingredients of a colorful life.

So…I want to start with a quick personal tip on using celery in smoothies. I can hear it…you’re saying…what? Got to be kidding – celery (on this blog?)? Really? Nope – not kidding. No apologies. Celery! Here goes…Celery @ The Shuk

True Friendship Hurts

«That's for you!!!»

Better is open rebuke than hidden love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.”

Solomon (Proverbs 27:5-6)

  1. In what relationships are you telling people “what they want to hear” just to keep the peace? Is this really helping them? What does it say about your friendship?
  2. It’s amazing what you can say to someone when they sense you really care about them. How can you underscore your friendship while delivering constructive criticism (i.e. rebuke or wounds)?
  3. Are you on the receiving end of some “open rebuke” and “wounds” from people that care about you? Rather than lash out, become defensive or ignore, wouldn’t it be better to listen, thank them and to seek out their counsel?
  4. Using the criteria in this proverb, who are your true friends (…and enemies)?
